Cocos Island Photography
& Links

Cocos Island belongs to the Republic of Costa Rica and lies south by south west of its pacific coast.

Costa Rica

Cocos Island is the stuff of legend, serving as the inspiration for the settings of Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island and Michael Crichton's Jurassic Park.  This remote rainforest paradise, 550 kilometers (300 miles) off the coast of Costa Rica, has never been inhabited except for pirates and treasure hunters.

Location of Cocos Island

The fabled caches of gold and silver have not been found, but a far greater treasure awaits divers.  In addition to the undisputed top predator at Cocos, the shark, an extraordinary abundance of sea life swims the island's waters, from vibrant tropical reef fish to moray eels and stingrays.
